RE-growth

'One step at a time'.- anon

Hiya

I Know its been ages and if you still follow me, Thank you!!!!! Its been hectic and the reason is simple.

I got a Job ya'll!!!!!!

Yep, after coming home from Sweden I was unemployed for almost 2 years (it would have been two in October. But I got a call and I started my new job in August so I am well into my second month. And thus I cant be blogging from work coz you know...that's frowned upon. Anywho.

Its great to be earning a salary and getting up early dressing up my hair and ohhhhhh before I forget..... I passed my Drivers license. Yep she can legally drive. I got the papers to prove it.

All I can say is that I had 6 goals for 2015 and I reached 2.

Job (August)
Drivers License. (September)

Cant wait to cross off the remaining four. I still got faith that I will do so before the year is over.

So will try and blog more over the weekend.

Peace, Love and reaching milestones.

Driving lessons - update

'Dude, like seriously.... Move!!!!!'- in the streets of Whk

Its Wednesday

Hiya, so I have had 2 lessons with my driving instructor and I survived. As did the car, the other drivers and my sanity. I have paid for 5 lessons to start and he thinks I will need 15 before we can consider going for my drivers licence. I think 15 is about right. I have that much confidence in my ability to steer.

That being said...... I swear other cars act like they were born drivers and came out the womb with a car and some papers (very painful thought-ouch!!!!!). I keep having to remind myself that EVERYONE started off learning and everyone has been where I am. And I should just ignore the hooting and overtaking. Even if it was somebody's 90 year old gramma who gave me the bird and overtook me in her little old yellow beetle (lies..just for dramatic effect).

I (secretly) like driving. I like knowing that at the end of this journey I can be free and on the open road and go on road trips but in real life I can go to the store to buy some bread and milk. But still I will be able To drive myself to the store. That's the point. The freedom to drive to the furthest shop across town just to get some milk and bread. coz now I got's my licence and now I can.

Just need more confidence, more hours and less people on the road then I will be a perfect driver.

Keep your fingers crossed. And Say a Prayer.

Current Situation - driving lessons

'New Beginnings start after something old ends'.- Anon

Happy Saturday y'all

So This Saturday afternoon, I will be back in front of a wheel after 10 years (wont mention that one time in India when I drove around the block for half an hour - trying not to bump a cow or monkey).

Yep, yours truly passed her learners and now I am starting my lessons.

Will be back in a few hours to update how it all went.

So excited and scared at the same time but I hear driving is like riding a bike you don't ever forget how to do it.

Nothing really changes about driving.

Lets do this!!!!!!

Peace, Love and Cars

Happy 1 June everyone

So we are going into winter and boy can I feel it. Its not gonna be pretty!!! I don't do Namibian winters. Cold and dry? Not for me.

Anyways, below are pictures of Maya and her hair. The first is what we could do if she allows us and the rest is what the lady at her daycare did her us. We asked her if she could plait or do anything with the hair so that it can be a neat, tidy style (protective) for a few weeks, and This is what we got. Its been a week now and its going strong.

My bantu knots'd girl

Neat and tidy

Peace (with my sis B)

Stunna shades. Yes that jersey says Mischief Maker!!!!!

I like this style for a number of reasons; we used pantyhose instead of cotton so the hair breathes a bit and it's not so tight. Come wash day which will be end of this week, I can easily get to the scalp. This is also possible for oiling her scalp - we are using pure coconut oil. And this style shows off her face more. she just looks so different.

We will prolly just do this till her hair is long and she allows us at home to work it. My little Diva.

Peace, Love and June month

Home grown

'We can make a commitment to promote vegetables and fruits and whole grains on every part of very menu.  We can make portion sizes smaller and emphasize quality over quantity. And we can help create a culture- imagine this- where our kids ask for healthy options instead of avoiding them´.- Michelle Obama

Happy Monday everyone.

So we have a little garden going on and it was time to harvest the spinach leaves. Check out the pix below.

I asked her to smile for me. (see those tomatoes? almost ready)

I don't even need to look, I got this!!! (watering the herbs - parsley, bay leaves,, chives, rosemary etc)

Concentration is the key

All mine? Before -  little bit sparse

Our spinach area.

After - Lovely and lush

So green and natural

Healthy and yummy

We re-purposed Maya's sand box as a spinach area.  We weren't sure if they would grow and that's why the area is small. But know we know!!!!!

We have eaten about 5 times now from this sandbox in this past 4 months alone. The amount that we get from that is enough for us 7 in the house. Maya and my mom are big spinach eaters.

Man, I lucked out with my child!!!!! Spinach, chickpeas, green beans, baked beans, corn, toast, oranges, grapes, raisins, butternut, pumpkin  are just some of the food that my daughter enjoys. So I guess you know what will be on the menu tonight huh?

Peace, Love and Spinach

Conversations with Maya

So yesterday I got Maya ready to go shopping with my folks and as we were brushing our teeth this happened...

Me: where are you going today?
Maya: shop in car with oupa and ouma
Me: what will you buy for me?
Maya: Everything!!!!!

She she gives me a kiss and turns and waves.

I swear, never a dull moment with my Princess.

Peace, Love and Happy Mothers day.

Happy Monday everyone

So I had my hair in cornrows with extensions and I removed them earlier this morning. I had them in for 3 weeks. I took them out and I fluffed my hair we we managed this pic with my mini me. Enjoy.

My mini me with her shoe strap loose. She don't care!!!! Kisses

I will do a hot oil treatment, deep condition and twist and curl the ends. Might do a updo with the twists. I am thinking of doing medium to large twists instead of mini twists. I am still on protective and growth mode. So no real hair out and daring styles. Just keeping it plain and simple. Towards the end of May or early June I will braid my hair again in box braids or twists with extensions for about 6 to 8 weeks.

Peace, Love and Big hair.
