First Weekend In New Delhi.

'India is, the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend and the great grand mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only'. - Mark Twain

Happy Sunday Everyone

Ok, so I have just spent my first weekend here in New Delhi, and I will be honest, I haven't yet gotten to see much of New Delhi. Due to pure laziness and trying to sort out my courses and so forth. But just be assured next week, I will be off, Rocco in hand and sight seeing we go.

However, I did get to go around my new 'neighborhood', I am living with a lady friend of my parents in her seriously wonderful home and well, on Saturday morning, I went off in search of fresh fruits and just to get an idea of my surroundings. Lets just say, I am in need of new clothing. Mine are very western, very exposing I guess is a good word. Normally, what I wear covers me up, I thought, but not here. Let me put it this way, as I was paying for my fruits at the vendor, I gathered he got a good look down my v-neck blouse. And well he was all smiles. I was all embarrassed.

Also, I got to cross the road. ummmmm, everyone is on the streets, cars, dogs, motorcycles, cows, rickshaws, and tons of people. So here comes little me, looking and waiting for the traffic to stop or slow down so I can cross.........still waiting...... then some guy saw me and came over and said 'You are new here right?'!!!! So he explained that the cars wont slow down and that I should just cross when I see an opening otherwise I will be standing and waiting all day. So I crossed. I lived to blog about it, so that's all I can say!!!!!!

I rode my first motorcycle on Friday afternoon. Actually, it was my second time - the first being when I was in primary school. Anyways, when I climbed on...it kinda toppled over. So I know, its time to loose some weight. No, but in all honesty, I and the driver didn't position ourselves very well. But boy, I was Scared. I held onto the poor guy and half the time, I had my eyes closed, silently praying just to get me to my destination. Afterwards, I wanted to ride again!!!!! seriously, it was pure rush. Adrenaline. The driver told me, next time, I shouldn't shake so much coz it made him nervous!!!!!!

What else? Ohhhhh I went shopping. Just went to a local market to get a feel of the place and ended up buying some stuff. I just bought, a loose fitting silk top and two tunics to be worn with harem pants.

My first impressions so far, is that Delhi is seriously noisy. Cars, people and honking everywhere. Its amazing. I mean, I am so used to it coming from Nigeria. So it doesn't shock me. For me, I love places like this, constant movement, constant hustle it excites me. I am weird like that. Sometimes I like silence and peacefulness and other time, the craziness and chaos of life intrigues me. I guess it depends on where I am at that time. Maybe that's just me. Also, so much traffic on the roads. I was constantly holding onto my seat and just watching how these cars and rickshaws are sooooo close to me. Half the time I am holding my breathe and the next I am sending up Prayers. Its sooooo cool. I love It!!!! lol hahahahhahah

As for the food, I have been trying small portions only because I have a slight problem with spicy food. And then I decided to move to India for 6 months!!!!! Anyways, I tried butter chicken, butter naan, mutton curry, butterscotch ice cream, KFC but Indian styled - meaning very spicy and hot, cold Thai soup, fried mixed vegetables but with Chinese spices and Jasmine tea. And I am sold!!!!! Loves loves loves it. Actually, I am thinking about taking Indian and Asian cooking classes whilst I am here. I just need to half the spices to suit my very delicate and difficult tummy. But mos def, more Indian food will be introduced to my system. Believe that!!!!!

Next week, I am off to visit the center where my course will be. And I begin lessons on the 1 of March, and I want to get an idea of how to move around from home to classes. So I will be off exploring more of New Delhi by myself.

Please note, I have been taking pictures but Blogger again is giving me the Error messages. So hopefully I will have everything sorted by next week.

Peace, Love and Patience
