Must be faster!!!!!

'Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how to respond to it'. - Anon

Hi everyone

Wow, today was certainly an adventure!!! Early this morning I went to register for my course, so I had made an appoinment to be there at 11 and I knew from Nigeria to plan well ahead. So off I went in search of a rickshaw or 'Tuk Tuk' and well, I couldn't understand why every Tuk Tuk kept passing us by - I was with someone. And finally one 'Tuk Tuk' driver let us know that they were on strike today!!!!! so it would be difficult to get a car. So we waited and waited and waited and finally we got one. I had to pay more than I normally would because they are on strike, but it was still affordable. And off I went in search of my learning center.

This was my wash n go - still wet, with only conditioner in my hair.
So after registering, I wanted to figure out my route since my classes begin on Thursday and what I noticed was I could either take the subway or the bus. So I opted for the bus, which was way cheaper. Only 20 INR (Rupees) 10 to go and 10 back, and lets just say.... the bus was still moving when I got on. It doesn't come to complete stop and you gotta be fast on it. Luckily for me, the route I am taking has a lot of traffic and lots of people take the bus, so many buses come through, about every 5 to 10 minutes. So I had to pay my 10 Rupees and then I was told (by the person that I was with) that the left side of the bus is for ladies. Which is great!!!! Also there is a sign by the windows that say its for ladies. And then I got to seating and people watching as well as traffic watching. My ride to school and back to the house is about 30 minutes each way and about walking 2 to 5 minutes. So all in all. I am good with time. My classes begin at 10:30 and go until 14:00 including Saturdays. For now, I have Sundays free.

The people on the bus were seriously beautiful. I mean colorful clothing, gorgeous hair, great skin!!!!!! Different contrasting skin tones in gorgeous shades of browns. After coming from Sweden, I notice skin tones more now. Don't ask me about it lol. Most people kept to them selves, some were sleeping (it was pretty hot), some on their phones, some chatting among themselves. The bus got quite full and there were people standing. I will try and take photos of the inside once its a bit more emptier. I am still shy when it comes to taking such Public fotos. So today's lesson is to be fast when I get on the bus. and try and get a seat, otherwise I will be standing for half an hour!!!!!

So then I came home and here's what I had for lunch.

Samosa
Filled with potatoes and very light curry. Not toooo spicy

Kingfisher Lager beer - very nice and light for a sunny hot day like today. It went down very well.

Chicken and Veggies Samosas.Yummmy.....

So, that's it for today in my Adventures of New Delhi. I am off to book a sight seeing tour for Tomorrow so I can finally see the wonderful sights of this town and see an Elephant!!!!! I am on the lookout for Elephants!!!!!

First Market Haul in New Delhi.

'Shopping is a woman thing. It's a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death and the ecstasy of the purchase'.
- Erma Bombeck

Hiya

Please note, I am still trying to upload pictures, still getting Error messages ;-(

So I just came back from the market and boy was it an experience!!!! A lovely experience. I love shopping in markets, seriously I do. They are so different from shopping malls - the people, the culture of shopping, bargaining, the smells, the loud sounds, people walking up to me to sell me random stuff I don't need like watches, belts, feather dusters and wallets. As soon as I figure out how to post Videos on here, will shoot a quick something for you guys to get an idea of what I talking about.

Anyways, I went with someone local and he was totally cool, he took me around explained about the different sections of the market and sorted out prices in the local dialect. I couldn't really complain about the prices because Firstly I had a budget of 1000 INR (Rupees) which is about $21 or,£13, in Swedish Krona its 134 SEK and in Namibian Dollars 154 NAD, Secondly I really was in need of new stuff. I came away with 5 harem pants, 2 skirts, 8 scarves, 2 tunics, 3 Kurtas (traditional attire), 3 blouses and one long summer dress. Not bad at all. All I need now are shoes, bags and accessories, but that's for another day - I still have change left over.

Ohhhhh, last night I went to the local 'expensive' supermarket and came away with some conditioners and Indian hair products that I am used to - Amla oil, Jasmine hair oil, Vatika oil and coconut oil with herbs. All that is needed is Henna Powder, Amla Powder, Indigo Powder, pure coconut oil and a few other stuff.

I keep having to remind myself that I only landed here on Friday and I still have 6 full months to go, so everything doesnt have to be bought right away lol!!!!!! That's also another reason why I haven't done a full tour yet. See my courses are Monday to Friday and I really want the weekends to go exploring. I don't want to do everything just yet, need to space stuff out and get an idea of my new home.

First Weekend In New Delhi.

'India is, the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend and the great grand mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only'. - Mark Twain

Happy Sunday Everyone

Ok, so I have just spent my first weekend here in New Delhi, and I will be honest, I haven't yet gotten to see much of New Delhi. Due to pure laziness and trying to sort out my courses and so forth. But just be assured next week, I will be off, Rocco in hand and sight seeing we go.

However, I did get to go around my new 'neighborhood', I am living with a lady friend of my parents in her seriously wonderful home and well, on Saturday morning, I went off in search of fresh fruits and just to get an idea of my surroundings. Lets just say, I am in need of new clothing. Mine are very western, very exposing I guess is a good word. Normally, what I wear covers me up, I thought, but not here. Let me put it this way, as I was paying for my fruits at the vendor, I gathered he got a good look down my v-neck blouse. And well he was all smiles. I was all embarrassed.

Also, I got to cross the road. ummmmm, everyone is on the streets, cars, dogs, motorcycles, cows, rickshaws, and tons of people. So here comes little me, looking and waiting for the traffic to stop or slow down so I can cross.........still waiting...... then some guy saw me and came over and said 'You are new here right?'!!!! So he explained that the cars wont slow down and that I should just cross when I see an opening otherwise I will be standing and waiting all day. So I crossed. I lived to blog about it, so that's all I can say!!!!!!

I rode my first motorcycle on Friday afternoon. Actually, it was my second time - the first being when I was in primary school. Anyways, when I climbed on...it kinda toppled over. So I know, its time to loose some weight. No, but in all honesty, I and the driver didn't position ourselves very well. But boy, I was Scared. I held onto the poor guy and half the time, I had my eyes closed, silently praying just to get me to my destination. Afterwards, I wanted to ride again!!!!! seriously, it was pure rush. Adrenaline. The driver told me, next time, I shouldn't shake so much coz it made him nervous!!!!!!

What else? Ohhhhh I went shopping. Just went to a local market to get a feel of the place and ended up buying some stuff. I just bought, a loose fitting silk top and two tunics to be worn with harem pants.

My first impressions so far, is that Delhi is seriously noisy. Cars, people and honking everywhere. Its amazing. I mean, I am so used to it coming from Nigeria. So it doesn't shock me. For me, I love places like this, constant movement, constant hustle it excites me. I am weird like that. Sometimes I like silence and peacefulness and other time, the craziness and chaos of life intrigues me. I guess it depends on where I am at that time. Maybe that's just me. Also, so much traffic on the roads. I was constantly holding onto my seat and just watching how these cars and rickshaws are sooooo close to me. Half the time I am holding my breathe and the next I am sending up Prayers. Its sooooo cool. I love It!!!! lol hahahahhahah

As for the food, I have been trying small portions only because I have a slight problem with spicy food. And then I decided to move to India for 6 months!!!!! Anyways, I tried butter chicken, butter naan, mutton curry, butterscotch ice cream, KFC but Indian styled - meaning very spicy and hot, cold Thai soup, fried mixed vegetables but with Chinese spices and Jasmine tea. And I am sold!!!!! Loves loves loves it. Actually, I am thinking about taking Indian and Asian cooking classes whilst I am here. I just need to half the spices to suit my very delicate and difficult tummy. But mos def, more Indian food will be introduced to my system. Believe that!!!!!

Next week, I am off to visit the center where my course will be. And I begin lessons on the 1 of March, and I want to get an idea of how to move around from home to classes. So I will be off exploring more of New Delhi by myself.

Please note, I have been taking pictures but Blogger again is giving me the Error messages. So hopefully I will have everything sorted by next week.

Peace, Love and Patience

I am in India!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'And then the great thing of my life was going to India' - Beatrice Wood

Hi all

That's correct, I have moved to New Delhi, India!!!!!!!

So lets begin with my flight shall we? So, I 'woke' up at 4 Am and got ready, then my folks and my brother took me to the airport. So after hugs, kisses and take care of yourself's. I was off, for 6 months!!!!! I left rain and heavy snow, for sunshine and warmth.

The first leg of my journey started off a bit slow, our flight was delayed due to de-icing. But was in such a great mood that didnt faze me.

Then after 2 and half hours landed in London and waited another 2 hours for my flight to New Delhi. The plane was pretty empty, considering it was a double decker plane, I didnt even know those existed. Anyhoooo I had a row all to myself. Which is always nice. There were babies and small children, but no Wahala (I think we have discussed this word).

After getting some warm food into me and a small bottle of red wine, I was good to sleep. Which I did for 5 hours!!!!!

Then I woke up and decided to watch some movies. What did I watch? A cooking program and the kids film Madagascar. Then I listened to some Frank Ocean - if you don't know who he is, get to know him. His music is beautiful. I was recently introduced to him and I love his sound and music.

Afterwards, some food was given and I got my grub on. Next thing I know, we are given immigration forms to fill out and the plane is landing. My trip seemed so much shorter than the 13 hours I was flying and waiting, sighing, watching my cellphone for the time, sighing, flying......you get the idea. Then it was.....

Good-morning New Delhi!!!!!!

I landed here at 1:25 and got to my new home after 2 Am.

Ohhhhhhhh, I am all about signs right!?!?! So as my flight was landing, I looked out the window and there was in a little corner Fireworks going on!!!!!!! I swear, I thought I was dreaming till I keep seeing bright Blue, Red and Green fireworks. If that isn't a sign than I don't know what is!!!!!!!

Next up, first shots of New Delhi and what exactly I am and will be doing here. Till then

Namaste

Good Bye Stockholm (till August)

'A person needs at intervals to separate from family and companions and go to new places. One must go without familiars in order to be open to influences, to change'.
- Katharine Butler Hathaway

Hi Everyone

So I am all packed and ready to go. Tomorrow morning at 4 AM, I gotta be up and head out to the airport. My flight is at 7:10AM first to London then to..........

Hair Challenge and preparing my hair

'The more you recognize and express gratitude for the things you have, the more things you have to express gratitude for'. - Zig Ziglar

Hi all

Three nights and counting!!!!!!! So right now, I am in the middle of packing and I decided to challenge myself. Due to limited suitcase space, I have decided not to pack my hair rollers, blow dryer or flatiron. Instead, all I will take along, are my Denman brush, hair clips, bobby pins, hair scarves, wide tooth comb, banana clip and paddle brush. As for hair products, all I am taking is a small conditioner, Argan oil, Shea butter and Jojoba oil. Everything else I will get where I am going to. Believe you me.

I want to challenge myself to a 'No direct Heat' challenge for 6 months. I would try for a year, but lets go with 6 months for now shall we. Last year, I only flat ironed my hair 3 times and blow dried it twice. So I am pretty sure I can manage that. But roller-sets are what will be the most difficult for me.......;-(.

I kinda prepared my hair today. I had had it in a protective style with chunky twists after taking my braids out. So today, I prepoo'd with Olive oil. And lets just say, I cant stand the smell!!!!!! I lasted about 30 minutes. Normally I go for as long as 45 minutes to an hour. But today was not the day.

Anyhooooooo, then I washed my hair with Garnier Fructis ----- Strengthening Shampoo with grapefruit extract - trying to finish up all my half empty products before I depart. Then I detangled and brushed through with Herbal Essences------ Frizz Fighter conditioner, which I washed out.

After all this was done, I put in some African Pride------- Leave in conditioner (which I still need to blog about) and mixed some Shea butter and coconut oil in my palms and put that through my hair. That. Is. All.
Then I got to braiding. I just did some individual braids with my own hair. Not sure, if I want to do a braid-out for my trip or if I will keep my hair like this through the weekend.
Tied my hair up for the night. Tucking the ends in. I did a dusting (cutting the ends of my hair ) session when I removed the braids.

Ok, thats all for now. Need to figure out which shoes go and who stays. Its SOOOOOO Hard!!!!!! decisions decisions.

Blessings, Peace and Packing

Ready to be packed!!!!!!!!

'When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money!!!!!' - Unknown

Hi All!!!!!

This is soooooo exciting!!!!! My Visa is ready, got my Passport. My ticket has been bought and booked. And I am ready to fly!!!!!!!! Below is just some of the stuff ready to be packed.

Just some Shea butter, Castor oil and Jojoba oil, with some toothpaste, some conditioner, hand sanitizes, new toothbrush, hair ties, bobby pins, new small water spritzer, new empty bottles for mixes. T-shirts, shorts, harem pants, cotton tops. Still to be packed shoes, cosmetics, Argan oil (which I just won in a giveaway), my small emergency kit etc.
So, this is my 'Last Weekend' in Stockholm. I will be gone for 6 months. I am leaving Europe for......... Naw ...... That will be revealed next week. But let me just say, I am so excited. Beyond words at this point. I don't know how, I will manage the next 5 days.

I have this STOOOPID grin on my face. Ever since I picked up my passport this morning, I have been walking on Cloud 9.

Sun, fun, adventure. Amazing food - actually, ummmm lets not talk about food right now. Spicy food and I don't mix. Opps..... shhhhhhhhhh.

So, Blogger and I are back on. We had words and we think what will be best,is if after every time I take pictures, I will have to immediately post them instead of save them on my laptop. That seems to work best.

There are a few new changes that will be happening. One thing is, I really want to start a 'Outfit of the day', only because where I am going, the clothes are amazing!!!!! And I plan on going shopping. Nuff Said.

Also, of-course it goes without saying that I am in search of a picture of - ' Man on a horse'. This needs to be done.

What else?

More hair pictures, more hair products. But an new addiction will be skincare, but that will be explained in due course.

Just want to add - I am going for Studies as well as Travel. So will explain more about what I am going to be studying and why. I know, its all suspense right now. But believe me, its worth it!!!! And I am so glad, I get to share this very special time in my life with my followers.

This place, this is a Real Dream Come True for me and I just want to take this opportunity to Thank my very Amazing and seriously Generous parents for making my dream come true. I am truly Blessed. Thank You, Thank you, Thank you. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

My word, these next few days better go fast.

And best bit..... I get to celebrate my 30th Birthday in a New Country!!!! Again. And this year, its on a Friday - so will mos def be having a special do. Just need to figure out the exact location.

I have lived the kind of life that has prepared me for this particular journey. I lived on my own for a while. I have traveled on trains, buses and bicycles. And lived in tents, sleeping bags and hostels. I can cook. I can wash. I can live without TV. Maybe not Internet (but it wont come to that). Also I am very well trained in the art of Negotiations or Bargaining!!!! Thank You Nigeria!!!!!! I adapt very well to new situations. I have a positive outlook on new situations and I have a winning smile. Yep, I am Ready for This. I was created for This. And I took all my shots and my medications, so my system is very ready for This.

Adventures here I come.

This Love thing.....

'Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, it will elude you but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulders'.
- Henry David Thoreau

Hi All and
Ohhhhh my gosh.

I met someone.

I wanna scream it from the highest mountain tops, but I also want to keep him Private. My own hidden secret. My sweet secret.

I have always been scared of love, really scared. Its something so beyond me. I can rationalize everything. I am a thinker. I am an over thinker. I love my Freedom..... for a while I even let myself get comfortable with being alone. Then I met him.

No, actually. We met years ago. But we really finally connected now. That's it. We connect. He gets me. I get him.

This Love thing? It doesn't scare me anymore.

Blessings, Love and Connecting
