Namibia turns 21!!!!!!!

Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.

- Benjamin Franklin

Good morning and a very special Happy Independence Day to all Namibians world wide. Yep, 21 years ago, on March 21 1990, Namibia became an Independent free country. Can only imagine all the great stuff happening around the world on this day. We Namibians like to celebrate this day very well hahahahahhaha. So, what can I really say about the Land Of The Brave? Its a beautiful country. It truly is. I honestly think, it really is one of Africa's hidden or not so hidden gems. The people ( hello - Moi) are wonderful, the food is great (we export our meat and fish world wide), the beer is the best (ask the Germans, South Africans and even Swedes lol), the water is perfect (thats a big Thing in Africa - tap water) the landscape gorgeous, the roads are amazing (thats also a big Thing in Africa - Actually Namibia has one of the cleanest cities (Windhoek) in the entire Africa) and the animals are a lot - Just go to The Etosha National Park lol.

Namibia has to much to offer to anyone wanting to visit. Take a look at some pictures I found on Google- I will upload my own very soon.

This is our map- We border Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa. As well as the Atlantic Ocean.

Our Founding Father - First President of The Republic of Namibia , Dr Sam Nujoma.

A shot of Windhoek - Christuskirche

Sesriem Canyon
Some Diamonds - yep Namibia got diamonds people!!!!!!!
Luederitz
Michelle McLean - Miss Universe winner in 1992.
Frank Fredericks - Namibian Athlete. He has won sliver medals at the Olympics(1992 & 1996) as well as gold at World Championships, Commonwealth games, World indoor championships, All Africa games and he is the world indoor record holder for 200 meters with a time 19.92 set in 1996.
Wildlife - we have more than just zebra's , we also have the big 5!!!!!!!!
Dune 7 - sand dude in the Namib desert. One of the largest in the world. Also the Namib desert is often refered to as the oldest desert in the world.
So, to all my fellow Namibians - keep up with the marvelous work. We are very Blessed to have and come from a beautiful, peaceful and positively growing country.

I am off to drink some Namibian Beer to celebrate this day. Muah.

Peace, Blessings and Another 21 Years.

From New Years Eve To Now.

The most beautiful thing in the world is, precisely, the conjunction of learning and inspiration. Oh, the passion for research and the joy of discovery!

- Wanda Landowska

I just wanted to post some pictures of how long my hair has grown in such a short span of time. Here are a few pictures since New Years Eve till Now. So here goes. I cant believe how long and strong my hair has grown in such a short time. My 'formula' seems to be working lol.

My hair, New Years Eve. Just a simple Wash and Go with some gel added.
Braids that I did myself, I think I had these in for about 5 weeks.
My first ever two strand twist. Had these in for a bout a week.
Sometime in January, decided to cover up.
March 13, 2011.

So, yep, gonna keep doing what I am doing. Which is, apply oils, shea butter and either cornrow or braid for a few weeks and repeat. Less I do to my hair, the more it seems to grow. But before, I do anything, I plan on doing a Henna treatment. I really want to see how and what happens when I do that. I hear such great things about Henna, so I am really excited about trying it out. So I guess, next up is a Henna post?

Peace, Love and Growth

Hair update - after the braids. Pt.2

Hey all,

Sorry for the break, had to organize my mom's 50th birthday brunch. More on that later.

So here is part 2 of my hair update and I gotta say, I am impressed with how long, thick and curly my hair is. As well as just looking fly its also very very strong. So, after washing it with Garnier Fructis - Strengthening shampoo, I used this new conditioner that I found at the 'dollar' store.

This conditioner is FABULOUS, yes, it needed caps locks. Its that good. It also smells divine and had such a nice slip to it. I left it in my hair for about 20 minutes for a deep condition, then I rinsed it out and got to working.

My hair, I pined the sides a bit, tooo much hair in my face.
Up close, and my baby hairs look so curly. Also, my edges are coming in better now (I was worried before because they were thinner)
Me, My hair and a slice of Chocolate cake.
I bought a Caster oil infusion at my local Indian store. Now this little gem was the last one in stock, and I had to have it. Apart from just Caster Oil, it also has Soybean oil, Safflower oil, Mineral oil, Almond oil, Jojoba oil, Coconut oil and Vitamin E. and since a little goes a long way and I have a small bottle, I used very little for my scalp. Then I added some Amla oil, Shea Butter and Jasmine Hair oil. Yes, all of that. Then it was off to bed, with a scarf around my head of course.

The next day, I just ran a little bit of water threw my Crowning glory and got the wonderful results you see above. Simple and Done. No Wahala (that's Nigerian for no Worries/drama/problem).

So, the next step is to cornrow my hair. I am not sure if I want to try a twist cornrow or just normal cornrow. Will still decide which one to try out. But for now, I am soooooooo Very happy with how my hair is. I didn't stretch my hair completely but I realized that it could still go further had I stretched and pulled it out further (I really hope you get what I mean) Lol.

Thats it.

Love, Blessings and Oils.

Hair update - after the braids. Pt.1

To be with the others, you have to have your hair short and wear ties. So we're trying to make a Third World happen, know what I mean? Jimi Hendrix

Hi
So I took out my braids last night and today and This is her in all her glory. I must say, the process of unbraiding sucks, but I got through it. Then I gently combed through the individual braids and took snapshots for your viewing pleasure.

My braids. Yep, I save them. I am a closet hoarder. I don't throw anything out.

from my brush.
Herbal Essences - Frizz Fighter Conditioner (smoothing conditioner with Mandarin oil and pearl extract)
All my Hair!!!!! All Natural!!!!
Thick, Strong and Black - like Coffee (if I did drink coffee, which I don't)

I am now off to wash, condition and figure out a style for next week or hopefully two weeks. I want to give my hair a short break before I cornrow it. Will be back with part 2.

Love, Blessings and Tons of hair

My first feature.

The more anger towards the past you carry in your heart, the less capable you are of loving in the present.

- Barbara De Angelis

Hi all,

I am pretty stocked to let you know I just did my first Feature, you can check it out over here

I am just basically explaining about my medical condition and also touching on bullying and teasing. Something I experienced whilst in Primary and High School.

Otherwise, I may talk about the bullying on here, I might tell, a short story of what happened to me and would most likely discuss how I processed the incident and moved on from it. I in no way, ever want to make Light of Bullying, (I do have a way of telling a story which may come across as making fun or me making a joke about something - trust me, I am not). Bullying is serious and the effects last for a very very very long time. With that said, I may also choose not to open old wounds, like I said before, I am moving forward in my life, and am at a place of Peace and Forgiveness. Just.

So, if you are new to my blog, sit back and enjoy my journey.

I would also, like to take this opportunity to Thank Miss Robyn for having such a forum in which to educate each other about unique medical conditions.

Peace, Love and Onwards.

The Skinny in me bought....

I gotta work out. I keep saying it all the time. I keep saying I gotta start working out. It's been about two months since I've worked out. And I just don't have the time. Which uh..is odd. Because I have the time to go out to dinner. And uh..and watch tv. And get a bone density test. And uh.. try to figure out what my phone number spells in words.

- Ellen DeGeneres

Hiya

So, I think I mentioned that I am on the path to Skinny'sville, south of Used to be Thick, neighbor to Large Town. Anyway, Last week I went out and bought Motivation. Thats right, I bought me some Motivation. If its cheap and less than 50% off it can be bought. I figured I needed something to work towards, you know, something I can hang and stare at as well as cuss out when I am doing 100 Squats (more like 25 right now but I am getting there) So I went dress shopping, I only bought one thing- Surprisingly it was in the 2011/2012 budget, because I will get at least a few wears out of this dress.

Below is my Summer dress. Its lacy and white and a Medium. But a small Medium. Basically, I need to be thinner in order to wear it. Much thinner.

Its a shortish dress, reaches my knees.
The back
So lacy and so soft.

I want to pair it with some brown sandals, a thick brown braided belt and an off white/cream/brown Fedora, with some Gold hoop earrings and my hair looking fly. Yep Yep, Summer is coming and I am gonna be ready!!!!!!!!

Of course, I realize that now, that I have placed my intentions on here, I will be forced to work harder. Its all part of my master plan.........

Blessings and Love and Summer time
