Home grown

'We can make a commitment to promote vegetables and fruits and whole grains on every part of very menu.  We can make portion sizes smaller and emphasize quality over quantity. And we can help create a culture- imagine this- where our kids ask for healthy options instead of avoiding them´.- Michelle Obama

Happy Monday everyone.

So we have a little garden going on and it was time to harvest the spinach leaves. Check out the pix below.

I asked her to smile for me. (see those tomatoes? almost ready)

I don't even need to look, I got this!!! (watering the herbs - parsley, bay leaves,, chives, rosemary etc)

Concentration is the key

All mine? Before -  little bit sparse

Our spinach area.

After - Lovely and lush

So green and natural

Healthy and yummy

We re-purposed Maya's sand box as a spinach area.  We weren't sure if they would grow and that's why the area is small. But know we know!!!!!

We have eaten about 5 times now from this sandbox in this past 4 months alone. The amount that we get from that is enough for us 7 in the house. Maya and my mom are big spinach eaters.

Man, I lucked out with my child!!!!! Spinach, chickpeas, green beans, baked beans, corn, toast, oranges, grapes, raisins, butternut, pumpkin  are just some of the food that my daughter enjoys. So I guess you know what will be on the menu tonight huh?

Peace, Love and Spinach

Conversations with Maya

So yesterday I got Maya ready to go shopping with my folks and as we were brushing our teeth this happened...

Me: where are you going today?
Maya: shop in car with oupa and ouma
Me: what will you buy for me?
Maya: Everything!!!!!

She she gives me a kiss and turns and waves.

I swear, never a dull moment with my Princess.

Peace, Love and Happy Mothers day.

Big hair and kissy pose.

Happy Monday everyone

So I had my hair in cornrows with extensions and I removed them earlier this morning. I had them in for 3 weeks. I took them out and I fluffed my hair we we managed this pic with my mini me. Enjoy.

My mini me with her shoe strap loose. She don't care!!!! Kisses

I will do a hot oil treatment, deep condition and twist and curl the ends. Might do a updo with the twists. I am thinking of doing medium to large twists instead of mini twists. I am still on protective and growth mode. So no real hair out and daring styles. Just keeping it plain and simple. Towards the end of May or early June I will braid my hair again in box braids or twists with extensions for about 6 to 8 weeks.

Peace, Love and Big hair.

Its May!!!!!

'Let's take the day off, just because...'- anon

Happy May Day!!!!!!

So on this public holiday, I am back online after a short break. Honestly real life is taking its toll on me and I cant find the time to Blog. That's the truth. So here and there I will blog when I can. May day is the beginning of my favorite month after April. Because its when my birthday looms over. My birthday is also on a Public Holiday - Africa Day 25May - just in case you wanna holla at your girl.

Did I ever mention about the birth-dates in my household. Well we celebrate birthdays on the 24, 25,26,27 and 28. Not all the same month but we follow each-other. 24 April - Maya, 25 May - me, 26 July- my dad, 27 July - my brother and 28 October - my sister. Only my mom and brother in law share the same birth-date and month which is 14 March. We are a random bunch.

Ok thats it.

Enjoy this day. Stay safe. Stay Blessed.

Peace, Love and May day.
